Bio

Oxanna Adams is an abstract oil painter. She has participated in numerous painting workshops including ones in Swedish Lapland and Iceland. It was time spent in these locations that solidified her love for the northern landscape.

Oxanna has exhibited her work in both group and juried art shows. She is a member of the Guelph Studio Tour. When not in her studio, Oxanna can be found walking the trails with her dog, running errands on her bicycle or attending community meetings to voice her concern about issues of sustainability and livability.

Oxanna and her husband are avid travellers. They are passionate cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Every summer they retreat to northern Ontario to camp and canoe.

Oxanna has a BA in Physical Education, an MBA and is a CPA. She was born in Toronto, grew up in Grey County and has resided in Guelph for 25 years.

About

I am attracted to northern landscapes - regions that are less traveled and magnificent in their wildness. My abstractions tell a story of powerful places that lift the spirit and stir the soul. I use oil paint mixed with cold wax medium to build up layers from which shapes emerge and colours solidify. The results are always unpredictable and surprising, mirroring my travel experiences. The memorable gems of discovery are those that emerge at the least expected moment.
